PHOTOS - Crowds enjoy Spring Thing at Sherwood Pines
Crowds flocked to Sherwood Forest to celebrate spring '“ as well as 1,000 years since Danish viking Canute became King of England.
Sherwood Pines Forest Park, near Edwinstowe, played host to Canute 1,000, its fourth annual Spring Thing, with attractions including a living history camp recreating how the site would have been inhabited 1,000 years ago, when Canute the Great came to the throne in 1016.
Centrepiece of the event was a replica Viking ship, on site to demonstrate a boat burial ceremony, while there were also battle re-enactments with authentically reproduced weapons.
