Police officer hurt making arrest in Mansfield

The officer suffered cuts and grazes to his arms, legs and hip as he held onto the suspect’s leg as he tried to flee.
It came after police were called to reports that two men had been punched in the face during an incident on Clifton Place, Mansfield, today, June 19, at about 4.10am.

Hide AdAn officer chased after a suspect and a colleague was barged into while trying to block off his escape in a nearby car park.
He was then dragged along the floor after grabbing hold of the suspect’s leg.
The other two victims who were assaulted suffered facial injuries, with one needing hospital treatment.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm, assault causing grievous bodily harm and common assault, and remained in custody.

"It simply shouldn’t be considered part of their job to be assaulted.
“As this arrest shows we will not tolerate assaults on police officers or fellow emergency workers, whether physical or verbal, and we will take robust action against anyone who engages in such violent behaviour.”
