A man who robbed a 63-year-old woman and used her bank cards to buy a takeaway has been jailed for three years.

Shaun Hill, 28, of Broxtowe Drive, was arrested on January 5 after a report of robbery was made to Nottinghamshire Police on December 28.

Police were called to Bancroft Lane, Mansfield, after a report of a woman being assaulted by a man in his 20s.

Hill pleaded guilty to robbery at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday and was sentenced on the same day.

He also pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation after he used the victim’s bank cards at a fish and chips shop and for minor purchases at other shops.

Detective Constable Adam Penn, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim who, as well as having her bank cards stolen, was also assaulted. I am pleased that there was a swift outcome.”
