At the silver level, Taylor’s met the requirements for the Construction Logistics and Community Safety scheme, as well as Transport for London’s freight safety initiative to reduce road dangers.
Previously the company had gained bronze level, meeting the requirements of the Safer Lorry Scheme, which mandated basic safety requirements for side under-run protection and safety mirrors on all commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. This was to prevent cyclists being dragged under the wheels in a collision.
Gaynor Corkhill, Taylor’s compliance manager, said: “I’m very proud to have played my part in achieving this accreditation. By following the FORS standards we are not only doing our bit to reduce work-related road risk and keeping vulnerable road users safe but, we are lessening our impact on the environment by implementing strategic planning and routing for our vehicles, to help minimise fuel emissions in urban areas – especially around schools and hospitals.”
